How To Update Firmware On Your Hisense Smart TV?
In order to maximize your Hisense smart TV experience, you can always add more apps via a variety of methods other than using the pre-installed ones.
The following are the different ways through which you can get Updates on your Hisense TV.
How to Enable Software Updates Hisense Smart TV (Direct OTA)?
It is possible to update the firmware using your Hisense Smart TV’s internet connection. To do so, you just need to enable the OTA updates.
While it should be enabled by default, most smart TVs do not have this feature enabled.
This is important to keep enabled and with this, the television will automatically download and apply new software updates from Hisense’s servers, without any input from the owner.
Steps to Activate/Enable Automatic Updates on Hisense Smart TV
- Turn on your Hisense TV and on your Hisense remote, press the settings button (it looks like a cog).
- Click on “Support” and then “System Update”
- Here, Make sure “Auto Firmware Upgrade” is enabled. If not, turn them “On”.
Hisense TVs have a firmware update option, but a few models may not have OTA update capability which complicates this process.

How To Update Hisense Smart TV without OTA?
Older Hisense television models do not support direct OTA updates, so they need to be updated manually. However, Hisense televisions that support direct OTA updates get them automatically.
The following guide will show you how to check for updates on Hisense televisions without OTA-enabled settings.
- Start your Hisense TV, then go to the settings
- After that, navigate to Support
- Scroll down until you reach the third option, System Update.
- Here, Check for updates by clicking the Check Firmware button
- If a new update is detected, it will be installed automatically.
Occasionally the TV may face severe issues or glitches for which it will not receive automatic updates and will not be able to use the manual update method outlined above.
If that is the case, we can push the latest firmware update manually via a USB drive.
How To Update Hisense Smart TV manually using USB Drive (All Models)?
If your TV doesn’t have internet access or auto-updates are not working, updating your software via USB is a good option.
The firmware update via USB takes longer than the other option. Also, this method doesn’t support every flash drive.
Hisense recommends FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, and NTFS as suitable formats for USB flash drives. The flash drive must have enough space to download and install the firmware.
Steps to Update Hisense TV Software manually using USB Drive:
- First, Visit the Hisense website to download the Hisense TV software.
- After that, You will need to unzip the downloaded file on your computer
- On your USB stick, copy the file upgrade_loader.pkg
- Now, Turn off your TV, plug in your USB flash stick, and then turn it back on.
- Hold the standby button on your remote until you see the TV logo followed by the Updating Software notification
- Now, wait until the process is complete, it may take up to 15 minutes
That’s how the manual USB firmware update takes place on Hisense Smart TV.
All you need to do now is enjoy your new Hisense Smart TV and discover all its new features.
What to do for older Hisense TV Models whose software/firmware is not available on the website?
You may not be able to use the o above options if you have an older Hisense model. If so, contact your local Hisense Customer Support.
Depending on your model, the representative may request that you take the set to one of their stores, or they may send you a USB stick with the software update.
Utilize the USB method above for updating the USB stick if they ship that to you.
