Disney Plus Audio Cuts Out, Intermittent Sound (Easy Fix)

Is your Disney Plus experiencing Audio cuts while watching or Intermittent sound between episodes which lasts for a few seconds and goes away again?

In fact, it becomes stressful even though it happens for a few seconds every now and then, yet that makes all the difference.

I’ve been through this myself and fortunately fixed it by following a few steps I’ll describe here.

After I faced this issue I first tried some troubleshooting measures, but they didn’t work, so I started researching it more and discovered that it is quite common and many users have also reported audio cut issues with Disney Plus.

Disney Plus Intermittent sound was reported on several devices including PS4, Smart TV (Sony, LG, Samsung, Vizio, Insignia, Hisense), and Roku.

Fortunately, it is not a major issue and can easily be sorted at home by following a few simple steps.

Audio cuts on Disney Plus App happen due to an internal settings conflict. To fix it, you need to clear the app cache or reinstall Disney+ on your device.

However, it is possible that depending on the device on which you are experiencing this issue, there are other underlying reasons that need to be addressed.

How To Fix Disney Plus Audio Cuts Out Issue?

As I did some digging and contacted Disney Plus support, as well as went through multiple forums where people had the same issue, I found a couple of solutions that worked.

However, there is no one fix solution and that is why I am backing up all of them below.

  2. Clear App Cache
  3. Tweak Device Audio Settings
  4. Reinstall Disney Plus Application

Check Disney Plus Server Status

The crackling, intermittent, as well as frequent audio cuts, usually occur when either the app cache is experiencing trouble or the server of the streaming application is under a lot of load.

I have concluded this according to my past experience troubleshooting streaming devices and applications.

In order to rule out this possibility, you need to first check the live status of the servers of Disney Plus.

Clear App Cache

If the Disney+ servers are not down and in good condition, the problem is either with the Disney+ application or with the device.

As the application cache stores data on a regular basis and keeps itself up-to-date, it is possible for the cache to be conflicted, causing audio issues.

Firstly, to ensure the cache is not the culprit, you need to clear it, and after that, you should not experience intermittent sound on the Disney plus application.

Clearing the Disney Plus app cache requires navigating inside the settings, then into the applications section, where you can select the Disney Plus app and clear or delete its cache.

It is possible that you still face the issue after clearing the Disney Plus app cache. In such a case, you need to proceed to the next troubleshooting step.

Change Device Audio Settings

There can be audio problems with smart TVs and streaming devices as all of them have smart sound such as Dolby along with further capabilities to configure the device’s audio as per convenience.

In order to rule out whether this is the cause, you can check if the Audio cuts are happening only when viewing the Disney Plus application and all other streaming apps are working properly.

After that, Below are the steps you need to follow in order to change your Dolby settings.

  1. Ensure the sound on your TV is not muted.
  2. Make sure your A/V receiver is turned on if your device is connected to one.
  3. Navigate to Settings, then to Display & Sounds.
  4. Select Audio settings
  5. Make sure the Dolby Digital Plus feature is turned off.

Although the above steps I provided are for Fire TV devices, you can use them as a guide to turning off Dolby Digital Plus on your other devices.

There is a high chance that the Disney Plus Audio issue has been resolved by now.

However, if you are still experiencing intermittent audio, no sound, or frequent audio cuts, you need to take further steps.

Reinstall Disney Plus

If all of your other apps are working fine and you are only experiencing an audio issue with Disney Plus, the app’s internal settings are conflicted.

To resolve this issue, you need to remove Disney Plus from your device and then reinstall it.

The internal settings will be cleared and restored to default by reinstalling the Disney Plus app. This might fix the problem.

To delete the Disney Plus App, you will need to go to your applications section on your device. From there, you can delete the app.

Then you can download the app again, navigate to your device’s app store and search for Disney Plus, and then you can start the installation process.

After the installation is complete, open the Disney Plus app, log in if asked, and watch any episode or movie to see if the issue has been resolved.

Hard Reset the Device

In the unlikely event that none of the above methods work for you, you will need to hard reset your device.

It is possible that your Disney Plus app and your device settings have been conflicted and are no longer syncing or working together.

The hard reset steps differ depending on your device. Typically you need to navigate to settings, device, and then select Restore, Factory Reset, or Hard Reset.

Upon hard resetting and restarting your device, you need to manually install the Disney Plus app, which will resolve all underlying issues that cause the Intermittent audio on your Disney Plus application.

Note: If you hard reset your device, it will reset all the settings to the factory defaults. You will need to manually reinstall all your applications, which may take some time.

Conclusion

It is quite common for Disney Plus to experience intermittent sound, no audio, and frequent cut-outs in between episodes.

There are numerous users who are experiencing it on their devices and so far users who have streamed Disney Plus on their PC or mobile have not reported it in masses.

However, it has been reported on all other devices like PS4, Xbox, Smart TVs, Roku, Fire TV Stick, and other streaming devices.

Having faced it myself, I was able to fix it on my device when it occurred to me and hopefully, the guide above will assist you in solving it on your device as well.

In addition, if none of the above fixes work for you and despite completing the above steps correctly you continue to experience Audio issues while using Disney Plus, you can contact Disney Plus support, but if you encounter any issues performing the above steps, you can let me know.

  1. 1: Go into your TV’s settings and turn off everything WiFi-related. That includes the WiFi radios, the WiFi-related location services, WiFi-Direct, etc. Everything.

2: Use a hard-wired Ethernet cable to connect your TV to your network.

    3: Reboot (most likely optional).

    • Thank you, Kenneth, it’s helpful to find a few more tweaks to sort the issue.
I have managed to recreate the issue and the above steps also do work.
